Effective date: August 2, 2026
The short version: Pirly stores the family information you enter so your family can use the app. We don't show ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information. You can permanently delete your account and all of your family's data at any time from inside the app.
Pirly is a family task and rewards app for iPhone and iPad, developed by Tarik Unal ("Pirly," "we," "us"). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at pirly.support@gmail.com. Tarik Unal is the data controller for the information described in this policy.
We collect only what's needed to run the app:
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. Pirly contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Pirly is designed for families. Parents are in control: a parent or guardian creates the family, creates each child's profile, and decides which devices join. By creating a profile for a child and inviting their device, the parent consents to the collection described here on the child's behalf.
The only information collected in connection with a child is: the first name and age their parent enters, the avatar their parent or they select from Pirly's built-in artwork, and their activity inside the app (tasks completed, points earned and spent, savings progress, and messages sent within the family). We do not collect photos of children, and children cannot make purchases, contact anyone outside their family, or interact with AI features, which are available only behind the parent PIN.
Children's information is used only to provide the app to that family. It is never used for marketing, never sold, and never shared except with the service providers described below, who process it solely on our behalf.
Parents can review their family's information at any time inside the app, delete individual items, remove a child's profile, or permanently delete the entire account and all of its data using Settings → Delete Account. You can also email us at pirly.support@gmail.com to review or delete your family's information or to refuse further collection.
Pirly lets you name tasks freely, and some families create tasks connected to religious or cultural practice. To phrase summaries naturally, Pirly automatically sorts each task into a general activity category — such as reading, chores, or prayer — and stores that category with the task.
By creating a task of this kind, you are consenting to it being stored and categorised this way. You can delete any task at any time, and you can rename a task if you would prefer it not be recognisable. Categories are used only to phrase your family's own summaries. They are never used for advertising or profiling, and are never shared beyond the providers named below.
That's the full list. We don't use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to running Pirly.
Where privacy laws such as the GDPR apply to you, we rely on the following legal bases:
Pirly's parent-facing insights use an AI language model (provided by Anthropic) to turn your family's activity numbers into short written summaries. These requests go through our own server, which enforces a strict allowlist: only first names and aggregated activity statistics can be included. Family messages, PINs, join codes, and email addresses can never be sent to the AI provider. Under our agreement with Anthropic, data sent through this service is not used to train AI models.
Custom questions in Ask Pirly. If you type a question into Ask Pirly, the text of your question (limited to 200 characters) is sent to our AI provider for one purpose only: identifying which of Pirly's supported family-activity statistics you are asking about. Along with the question, we send only your children's first names and your task names so the request can be matched correctly. Your question is not stored by Pirly, is not used to train AI models, and is never answered by the AI directly — answers are always calculated from your family's activity within the app. This feature is available only to parents.
We never sell your information and never share it for advertising. We use two service providers, which process data only on our instructions:
Beyond these providers, we would disclose information only if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Both Google and Anthropic store and process data in the United States. Where information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which both providers have entered into with us, to give that information a level of protection equivalent to the one it has at home.
Your family's data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by server-side security rules so that data is only available to members of your own family, and sensitive parent actions in the app are protected by a parent PIN with optional Face ID. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information with measures appropriate for a family app.
We keep your family's information for as long as your family uses Pirly. When you delete your account from Settings → Delete Account, your account and your family's data are permanently deleted from our systems. Copies in our routine backups are purged within 30 days. If a member leaves a family without deleting the account, their history remains part of the family's records until the family is deleted.
Pirly currently uses only local notifications, which are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. We do not operate a push notification server. If that changes in the future, we will update this policy.
Wherever you live, you can access, correct, or delete your family's information directly in the app, or by emailing us.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email pirly.support@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. We may need to confirm you are the parent on the account before sending information, to protect your family's data.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the EU you can find yours at edpb.europa.eu; in the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use of Pirly after a change means you accept the updated policy.
